Man’s progress will
Soon cause its own extinction
The circle of life
Sooner or later, we will have to recognise that the Earth has rights, too, to live without pollution. What mankind must know is that human beings cannot live without Mother Earth, but the planet can live without humans.
Evo Morales
Man can do anything today. We can fly halfway across the world to do business. We can drive hundreds of miles and see family. We can explore other planets to possibly live on or visit. Our monetary sources seem endless.
Earth gives us clean air and water. It provides and nourishes our bodies and souls. It feeds us with the proper nutrients to thrive. It gives us beautiful scenery to admire, touch, and smell. We observe wild animals and listen to birds singing in nature.
Man has figured out endless ways to utilize the resources of our planet. But at what price? We’re good at leaving pollution behind and not cleaning it up. We’re not good at utilizing alternative resources from the sun, the ocean waves, and the wind. We take from Mother Earth without giving back. We’re cutting our own throats.
Earth can do without man. Earth will thrive when man becomes extinct.
Agreed with the logic and the sentiment. But I fear that the extinction of humankind will occur without and long before that of the planet. We are being driven back to the Dark Ages by an extremist view that bears no truck with oil, coal, nuclear power etc whilst they jet around lecturing us. We mustn’t eat meat because ….. We must erect solar panels where we have no sun. We must erect wind turbines where we have no wind. We must import coal from China when we have our own. We must buy oil from Saudi Arabia when we have our own in the North Sea. We must all drive electric cars we can’t afford. We must live in caves ….. Extinction Acceleration!
Excellent! Yes, you’ve brought up some points that I haven’t really given much thought. I do think the earth will flourish once man is gone. Thank you for your insightful response!
Just seen this reply to mine. Haven’t seen posts from you for a while. You ok?
I’m fine, Dr B! Thanks for your concern. Life has me busy.
As Earth continues its journey around the sun, the next mass extinction of living things has begun. Once the great polluters, humans, kill off most of life on Earth, including themselves, greenhouse gases will eventually decrease and the few life forms that have survived those conditions in a water world, will flourish, and evolve over thousands of years into new species. Humans may become extinct, but some life forms will survive, flourish, and evolve!
