9 Things That Must Change If Christianity Were Proven True

During my first coffee this morning, I wondered what would happen if a group of archeologists found manuscripts written by Jesus, and after years of study, found them to be authentic? How would that change Christianity? Would people of other religions want to become a Christian? That made me wonder, so I decided to write 9 things that must change if Christianity were proven true – just for kicks.

1. We Would Be Free of Doubt

We would finally be free of doubt! Christians would no longer have to use the words “believe” and “faith” because we would “know” for sure that Jesus’ resurrection was real and that he died for our sins – if that’s what Jesus’ manuscripts show.

“If you know something for a fact, you have no need to believe it or be convinced of it. You need belief only when you are not sure. Belief is thus the product not of knowledge, but of uncertainty.”

Lesley Hazleton, Agnostic: A Spirited Manifesto

2. Christianity Would Become United

Christianity would finally become united because Jesus gives us clear instruction on doctrine, theology, Bible interpretation, and rituals! We could close down all 45,000+ denominations of Christianity in the world and create one united Church! No more wondering if I was baptized correctly or if baptism is required to be saved. No more wondering if blaspheming the Holy Spirit is really an unforgivable sin or not. We would no longer need Christian Apologists. Conflating the Bible stories would be a thing of the past.

3. Everyone Would Become a Christian

The entire world would want to become a Christian. Or would they? Just think about this, though. If you knew for certain that Christianity was real, would you allow anyone else to blaspheme your religion? Someone would have to tell the Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Hindus, and the other 4,200 religions that their religion is not right.

“Do not follow other gods, any of the gods of the peoples who are all around you, because the Lord your God, who is present with you, is a jealous God. The anger of the Lord your God would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you from the face of the earth.”

Deuteronomy 6:14-15

But, how would we handle the naysayers and people who will not comply with Christianity? Should we do what the Bible says? Destroy everyone who doesn’t conform? I wouldn’t want to be the guy who tells the people in countries like Indonesia, which is about 95% Muslim, that they don’t have it right. The world would be 100% Christian instead of only 33%, and we would have God’s backing.

“He who sacrifices to any god, other than to the Lord alone, shall be utterly destroyed.”

Exodus 22:20

4. No Need For Separation of Church and State

We would no longer need a separation of church and state because everyone is a Christian! There would be no division in Congress – no separation of religions. The Ten Commandments would be the law of the land! The penalties for breaking the law of the land would be enforced as harsh as they are. We’d have to develop a system of killing the adulterers and kids who don’t obey their parents. I hear blaspheming laws in Ethiopia are a big deal these days. We would need to tear down all idols of God.

5. Most Christians Would Go To Heaven

Heaven and hell would be real places. Almost everyone would enter the Narrow Gate to heaven. Before we became united, Jesus had predicted that only a “few” would enter the gate to heaven. That’s probably because we didn’t have clear instructions on how to enter. But, we now have clear instructions from Jesus! You would have to be a fool not to follow his instructions. And maybe hell would be extinguished because of the lack of participation! Who knows?

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Matthew 7:13-14

6. World Hunger Would Extinguish

World hunger would vanish. No one in this world would go hungry. Christians are great at feeding people. We would all have a duty to feed our fellow Christians all over the world. We can finally eradicate hunger without evangelizing!

7. Racism Would Be Tolerated

Discrimination and racism would be tolerated. It would be okay to own slaves. We would be allowed to shun gay friends and family. Brown would be the superior race! Brown supremacy! We would rid ourselves of religion’s diversity because we are certain that there is only one true God.

“Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ…”

Ephesians 6:5

8. We Would Eliminate the New Testament

Jesus’ manuscripts would become the New Testament. These new Jesus manuscripts would be the only sacred Word of God. We will no longer rely on the writers of the Gospels written by Greek-speaking men. Paul’s writings would have nothing over Jesus’. The New Testament writings are from authors who gave their “opinions” about what Jesus taught. They wrote down the words that were passed along verbally to them. We wouldn’t have to take someone else’s word because now we truly have God’s word – written by the hands of Jesus.

9. Assurance of Our Salvation

We would now have only one formula for our salvation and not a smorgasbord to choose from. You can ask 10 Christians what it takes to be saved, and you will get 10 different answers. Jesus’ manuscripts will have step-by-step, clear instructions for everyone to follow. No more wondering if I must observe the law, or if I’m praying correctly, or if I’ve evangelized enough, or if the sprinkling I got at my baptism was enough.

Jesus Didn’t Write Anything

A pretty wild story, wouldn’t you say? As far as we know today, Jesus didn’t write any manuscripts. At least we haven’t found any yet. Now, this is a made-up story, so please don’t pass these words on as gospel. Does anyone out there believe that Christianity could ever become united? I hope you enjoyed my 9 things that must change if Christianity were proven true. If you can think of any others, please comment below.

“Every day people are straying away from the Church and going back to God.”

Lenny Bruce

It’s time for another cup of coffee!
